After almost 8 years, it is with sadness and joy that we
announce the closing of Scrapbooking Moments In Time (aka SMIT).
While we certainly learned a lot from our experiences, the
flood and recession have affected us to the point where the
business has become more trouble than it is worth. Manufacturers
now turn over product at such a rate that it has become
impossible to fulfill everyone's diverse wishes in a cost
effective manner while still controlling inventory.
In addition, circumstances for our family have changed. With
the closing of SMIT, I will be retiring into the life of "Stay
at Home Grandma". While I have had much joy from the customers
and operation of SMIT, I am looking forward to immeasurable joy
from watching my granddaughters, Kamryn and Samantha everyday.
Therefore, the last business day at SMIT will be Saturday
July 26th. We will no longer be honoring Smart cards, although
we will accept the SMART CARD discount coupons through Sunday
July 13th. Discounts will not be combined.
All gift certificates must be redeemed by Sunday July 20th
and will not have price reductions extended to them.
We will not be accepting checks after Sunday July 20th as well.
We are sorry for any inconveniences this may cause, but our
main concern now is closing the business in a timely manner.
While we will be closing the brick and mortar, we will be
operating an EBAY store and still conducting crops. We will of
course forward information to this extent as we work out the
details.
At this point, we are planning on still being a fully
functional store. We will continue to hold all of our scheduled
classes and Time Out Clubs for the month. In addition, we are
still going to be holding Snack and Scraps for the month. We
will close at 5pm on July 26th for a private event that evening.
All fixtures, computers, paper racks and counters will also
be for sale at an already discounted price with no additional
discounts.
On a personal note, not everyone has the chance to pursue a
dream, I did. I met some of the most talented and inspirational
people in the scrapbooking industry. I worked with incredibly
loyal and dedicated employees (and now lifelong friends). I
shopped for my customers at each Convention to find the newest
and the greatest, and found that I loved to travel and to buy! I
worked with customers through their sorrows and their joys, from
proposals, engagements, weddings, births and funerals. Our Store
contributed to many charities, including Batten Disease, for
whom we raised almost $20,000 over five years. The good that
came out of this store far outweighed any negative. It was
probably the most demanding job that I have tackled since I
decided to have children :) and we stayed open for eight years!
I will miss you all.
Thanks for supporting our store for so many years and
remember.........Don't cry because it's over......Smile because
it happened.
All the best,
Pat
